Abstract

Objectives: To evaluate the implementation of Pharmaceutical Care for outpatients under antineoplastic treatment with capecitabine in a large Hospital at Rio de Janeiro.
Methods: The study is an evaluative study. In this perspective, this study can be defined by Hardon et al. (2004) as before-intervention/after-intervention model. The outcome analyzed after-intervention was the measurement of negative clinical outcomes to medicines solved. The patients who was in ambulatorial use of capecitabine have been followed from September 2010 to February 2011. The pharmacotherapy follow-up was based in Dáder´s Method. The project was submitted (CEP CMM / n ˚ HUAP 175/2010) and was approved by the Ethics Committee in Research of Universidade Federal Fluminense (CAAE 3667.0.000.258- 10).
Results: Eighteen women from 39 to 78 years diagnosed with breast cancer, colorectal cancer, duodenal cancer and gastric cancer were followed. Fifty nine NCO related to sixty six DRP were identified. Nineteen interventions were accepted (40%) and the negative clinical outcome have been solved in 12 of these (63% of cases) and twenty interventions were not accepted (43%), and the negative clinical outcome have been solved in five of these (25% of cases).
Conclusion: The study reached the intended goals and has improved the oncology´s assistance in that Hospital.
