Abstract

Objectives: To develop and validate a hospital pharmaceutical services assessment tool.

Methods: This is a descriptive study of quantitative approach, structured in three stages: 1) instrument development 2) content validation - via Delphi method and 3) survey on the acceptability of the instrument-via application in a group of hospital pharmacies in Brazil.

Results: The developed instrument was constituted by a set of 60 indicators grouped into four dimensions of assessment: Management, Development of actions in the context of the comprehensive health care, Information, physical and technological infrastructure management and Human resources. For content validation, a panel of 15 experts assessed the items of the instrument and after two Delphi rounds the consensus obtained was greater than 80% in the compliance standards and measurement elements for all items. Regarding the analysis of acceptability, the results were satisfactory, over 90% of the pharmacists have had no doubts in all items.

Conclusions: The hospital pharmaceutical services assessment tool developed has been considered suitable and validated regarding the content and applicability.
