Abstract

Objectives: Apply guidelines of the Ministry of Health decree 4.283/10 Pharmaceutical Assistance for the evaluation of the 10 public hospitals in the process of reorganization of the management.

Method: This is a case study, based on the model of evaluative research. Structured in three phases: 1) Phase development assessment tool service, 2) Phase field (Assessment of Pharmaceutical Services), 3) Phase treatment and data analysis.

Results: After standardization of assessment indicators was possible to evaluate the continuous improvement of the logistical steps of the Pharmaceutical Assistance to the detriment of technical assistance steps. Had the highest percentage of adequacy final stages of selection (73.5%) and programming/acquisition of 75%. The activities related to pharmaceutical care had the lowest percentage of 11.7%. It was also noted that the units have more pharmacists per bed have a tendency to get better results than those units that have fewer pharmacists per bed. Units with fewer than 50 beds per pharmacist media adequacy obtained 50% ±12, while hospitals with more than 50 beds per pharmacist owned an average of 39% ±13.

Conclusions: Through the adaptation of the ministry of health guidelines was possible to evaluate properly the various components of the Pharmaceutical Services Hospital, showing points of greater and lesser capacity, enabling comparison with national and international data and creating tools for planning actions to improve management.
