Objective: To describe the technical complaints related to health products and drugs at the University Hospital João de Barros Barreto, registered in the Brazilian System Notifications Sanitary Surveillance. Method: A descriptive, retrospective, quantitative approach, conducted from September-November, 2011, 50 notifications were examined, voluntary, identified from the following variables: type of complaint, type of product notified; description of misalignments, professional type notifier. The data were grouped in tables and graphs and analyzed according to the approach used in quantitative research methodology. Results: Among these notifications Complaint techniques related to health products, group medical-hospital article was most prevalent, followed by complaints techniques medicines. Regarding professional notifiers nursing staff held 80% of reports, followed by 20% of the pharmacist. By studying the classification of the notifications into two groups: technical complaints article healthcare and medicines. Being the most frequent. The types of occurrences were characterized by suspicion of quality deviations for both medicine and physician-hospital article. Conclusions: The notifications are relevant to generate an indicator of quality, and even ensure best health products on the market and more safety for patients and health professionals.
