Promoting good pratices of pharmacy and nursing in medication used in hospitals

Objective: Describe the process of developing instructional material, easy access and consultation with scientific-technical content to use in preparation and administration of injectable medications in hospitals.
Methods: Descriptive study, following investigation-action steps to validate the process of developing instructional material about injectable drugs. In the first stage held gathering information to prepare a manual and execution the course “Good Practices in nursing and pharmacy. The second was the standardization of drugs and third was preparing the manual dilution of medication and course evaluation.
Results: We made dilutions of injectable drugs tabs, organized alphabetically and pharmacological group, and made the new standardized hospital performed. There were 195 professionals entered in awareness and training course, mostly were nurses and technical nursing. The course was evaluated as "Good" and "Excellent." The doctors were reluctant to updates, claiming to be unnecessary. Conversely, the nursing staffs were very receptive in accepting the material, saying it would improve their daily practices. As a result, the tables were distributed to all hospital units.
Conclusion: This report demonstrated the importance of the promotion of educational programs through continuing education / continuing in hospitals. Its acceptability and receptivity on the part of nursing professionals has enabled us to see the importance of this action, aiming to provide updating, knowledge and exchange experiences to the professional, reducing the chances of medication errors.
