IG was monitored by pharmacotherapeutic own method based on PWDT method, PIs were performed during one year with this group. Analysis of clinical outcome was based on on identifying, resolving and preventing drug related problems (DRP) and on results of hemoglobin (Hb), CD4 and viral load (VL) tests; economics were evaluated using the cost of medical consultations, nursing care, laboratory tests, procedures and hospitalizations.

Results: ninety one PIs were conducted during one year in IG, DRPs decreased by approximately 16%. After one year, changes in Hb and CD4 counts were statistically significant for GI (95% and 90% confidence, respectively); 50% of CG and 77.78% of IG had VL<50. IG has generated 5.08% less spending than the CG, leading to estimated saving of US$14.43 per patient.

Conclusion: results indicate that PIs improved patient´s clinical outcomes and reduce costs to the health service.
ER -
