Prospective study of character, analytical and quantitative, was held in a public hospital in Fortaleza, Ceara, in the period from January to May 2011. Data were collected through semi-structured form with the analysis of records of patient. Of the 18 patients studied, 56.0% were female and 66.7% were aged between 41 and 70 years. The main indications for the use of NP were post-surgical procedures with 74.0% of patients, 39.0% used PN for a period of 7 to 10 days. All were the kind of nutritions and total administered via central. As for evolution, 39.0% of patients died and 39.0% presented complications, infection of the catheter being the most prevalent. Conformities were found in all prescriptions, at least one of the three types of macronutrients. Drug-nutrient interactions occurred in 33.0% of prescriptions. Biochemical tests were requested more potassium and total calcium (100.0%), glucose, sodium, magnesium, urea and creatinine (94.0%). You can see the need for reassessment of the formation and interaction of the multidisciplinary team at the hospital, with the implementation of clinical protocols to better meet patients using parenteral nutrition and comply with Brazilian legislation.</p> ER -
