Abstract

Due to the increasing number of onco-hematological patients entered into protocols which advocates the use of antineoplastic therapy and whose oral administration of these drugs is performed at home, explanation is needed on the drug to the patient. Among the important information stand out: the risks associated with non-adherence to treatment, conditions of carriage, storage, administration and disposal of medicines. In this sense, the objective of the study was to determine the profile of patients in onco-hematological outpatient chemotherapy at the Instituto Estadual de Hematologia Arthur de Siqueira Cavalcanti (Hemorio) and which factors impacted adherence to treatment. It is a descriptive exploratory study in a quantitative way where it was shown possible causes of medication errors and / or lack of adherence in oral anticancer therapy and the occurrence of risk factors to the environment by improper handling of this drug group. The results demonstrated the importance of patient information for the detection of the main factors affecting adherence to treatment and in reducing environmental damage.
